CROSS COUNTRY 2024
Building on her strong middle school career, Mia Rent made an immediate impact in her freshman cross country season, emerging as an exciting young talent. In September, she opened her high school career with dominant wins in the freshman sections of the MSTCA Frank Kelley Invitational and Ocean State Invitational. Mid-October, she continued her freshman winning streak by taking first at MSTCA Bob Glennon Twilight Meet, establishing herself as a force in the state.
Throughout the fall, Mia was a consistent front-runner, regularly finishing ahead of older, more experienced athletes. She captured the title at the DCL Foley League Championship, helping to prove her strength. At the MIAA Division 2B Championships, Mia earned a bronze medal with a third-place finish overall, while also being the top freshman. She wrapped up her season with an impressive 12th place finish at the MIAA Division 2 Meet of Champions, again finishing as the fastest freshman in her race.
With poise beyond her years and a clear passion for the sport, Mia’s freshman season was marked by grit, consistency, and dominance—laying the groundwork for a standout high school career ahead.
INDOOR 2024/25
Mia Rent entered her first indoor track season in 2024–2025 with determination, focus, and a clear love for the sport. Training exclusively with Emerging Elites, she committed to twice-weekly practices at Boston University, embracing every aspect of being a student of the sport. Mia quickly stood out for her mature approach to training—mastering the art of keeping the hard days hard and the easy days easy—balancing intensity with recovery in a way that allowed her to thrive and grow throughout the season.
Despite being just a freshman, Mia raced like a seasoned competitor. She ran six carefully selected races over the winter, and in every one, she set a new personal best. Her breakthrough came at the GBTC Invitational in the seeded mile, where she crossed the line in 5:00, showcasing both fitness and race-day savviness. She followed that performance by winning her section of the John Thomas Terrier Classic 1000m in 2:53.89 and claiming victory at the Rising Stars 800m in 2:18.61—demonstrating range and speed across middle distances.
Mia capped off her indoor season by qualifying for the championship mile and 800m at New Balance Nationals Indoor, where she focused her efforts on the mile. There, she broke 5 minutes as a freshman, running 4:59.63 and showing that her growth was no accident—it was the result of smart training, strategic racing, and an eagerness to compete at the highest level. She closed her season strong and never missed an opportunity to learn—staying after her races to watch faster sections, studying the sport with the goal of becoming the best version of herself.
OUTDOOR 2025
Following a strong debut outdoor season with Wayland High School, Mia Rent carried her momentum into the 2025 outdoor track season and continued to impress on both the high school and club racing circuits. After building strength and racing experience through the spring MIAA season, she turned her focus toward sharpening her performance at elite-level meets and stepping confidently into the next phase of her development.
Mia delivered a breakthrough performance at the Battle Road Twilight Meet #4, winning the 1500 meters in a swift 4:40.41. That effort highlighted her growing confidence and race execution in competitive open fields. She followed it up with a new personal best of 4:59.05 in the mile at the Adrian Martinez Scholastic Race, where she placed second and dipped sub- 5:00 for the second time in her career and the first time sub-5:00 outdoors.
Capping off her season on the national stage, Mia competed in the championship girls mile at New Balance Nationals Outdoor, running 5:04.70. While not a PR, it was a valuable opportunity to experience high-level championship racing and fine-tune her skills in a deep and tactical field at UPenn’s famous Franklin Field —an experience she embraced fully.
As the season transitioned into summer, Mia’s competitive spirit remained consistent. She looked for a new kind of challenge and took her talents off the track and up the mountain. She competed in the Loon Mountain Race, where she finished third among U20 athletes, embracing the demanding course and having fun in an entirely new racing environment.
Mia’s outdoor season was marked by versatility, growth, and an eagerness to chase new experiences. Whether on the track or the trails, she continues to push boundaries, showing that her journey as a distance runner is only just beginning.
